Planarian Patrol #1: “The Death of Planarian Man”

originally printed in the Planarian Patrol comic strip (Oct 1994-July 1995); compiled and reprinted as “Planarian Patrol #1″ in August 1995 by The Auburn Newspapers.

This was the beginning of the Planarian Patrol in print. The story was set in a time well into their career as superheroes, beginning with the death of Planarian Man.

As it unfolds, the world reacts to the loss of its greatest hero, as other heroes rise in an attempt to take his place. However, as the cover suggests, the Mad Dr. Planarian does his best to make sure that transition never happens.

The story features the Mad Dr. Planarian, the introduction of The Other Planarian Patrol, Planarian Patrol International and Planarian Patrol: West Coast.

The series concluded with The Wise Old Planarian Who Lives on Top of The Mountain declaring the next series would come when Heck freezes over.

Planarian Patrol #2: “The Power of Uranus”

originally printed in the Planarian Patrol comic strip (September 1995 - August 1996); compiled and reprinted as “Planarian Patrol #2″ in August 1996 by The Auburn Newspapers.

Opening this series, Heck freezes over.

Following the events of issue #1, the new Planarian Patrol decides to take a well-earned vacation to Uranus Boy Land. Unfortunately, their vacation proves to be short lived, as Blueface the Pirate Planarian and his crew rise to ruin their fun and their lives.

The battle with Blueface ends up straining the resources, ingenuity and roster depth of the Planarian Patrol, resulting in some unforseen casualties and implications for the rest of the Patrol and the series itself.

Features the introduction of Uranus Man and a cast of Planarian Patrol members, some returning from issue 1 and some previously unseen.

Planarian Man vs Y2K

originally printed in the Planarian Man comic strip (Nov 1999 - Dec 1999); compiled and reprinted as The Planarian Man San Diego Comic Con 2002 Limited Edition Ashcan #1

Picking up several years after the tragic conclusion to Planarian Patrol #2, Planarian Man has ignored trouble, but trouble finds him in the form of outdated technology, warnings from the future, and giant killer robots.

This was the story arc that saw the return of the Russian Midget and a look into Planarian Man’s world on the island resort, introducing his human mystery-solving sidekicks, Dan and Innocent.
